It has been an exciting couple months here at Cornwall Christian Church. Mike has finished his series on justice and is now moving into Pray 4 One. What is “Pray 4 One?” simply put it is “holistic discipleship in three words.” Pray 4 One is praying every day that God will give you one person to love like Jesus. One person who you can share your life with. One person who’s world you can change by simply loving them. Maybe it’s providing them food. Maybe it’s helping them find a home. Maybe it’s inviting them into your home. Maybe it’s simply being a friend when they feel alone. No matter what it looks like, whatever you do for this person out of love is discipleship. The more and more time you spend with this person, the more they will see Jesus in you and the more they will ask questions and the more you can share Christ with them. Our vision statement is to “Love Christ, Serve Others and Change our World.” Pray 4 One is putting that statement into motion. When we are loving others the way that Jesus loves us, we are changing their world.

One of the ways we want to impact our community is by letting them know that we, the church, are here for them. This week we have started something we’re calling “Coffee Church.” Weekly from Monday – Thursday we are opening our doors from 9:30am – 1:00pm, putting on a pot of coffee, and inviting people in. We have a comfy space set up, free wifi and are available to visit with whoever comes in. We want to meet the needs of our community and if providing a warm, safe space with an internet connection is a need we can fill then we’re going to fill it. Pop in for a visit!

Another way we want to impact our community is through a ministry team that Mike joked about calling “The Justice League.” This team is based off of Micah 6:8, “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” This ministry team will be responsible for finding individuals and/or families in need and coming along side them, supporting them, and guiding them to a point where they are no longer in need. We want to come alongside them and bring them to a place where they are no longer dependent on our help but are now able to help us help others. This ministry is already in motion and we are excited to see where it goes.

All of these things, Pray 4 One, Coffee Church, and The Justice League, are going to be things that we work into our DNA as a congregation. We want these things to be natural and ingrained in everything that we do. We, the staff and leaders, cannot do it on our own. We need your help! We need your prayers, your financial aid, and your time to invest in people. This DNA shift will impact our community but it will also impact you as you get involved. Your life will change as you begin to see transformation happening in other people’s lives. Are you ready for Jesus to change your life? Are you ready to see God act in big ways? Are you ready to become Christ’s hands and feet? Are you ready to change the world with love?!

If you are ready to be involved but aren’t sure how, if you have an idea you want to share, or if you are someone who could benefit from our help, reach out to us at office@cornwallchristian.church because we would love to connect with you.
